How do you know a person is a genius? Well, some would say, by his IQ score...or by his life achievements...or even just by talking to him and digging a bit into his own concepts about life and so on and so forth.
But true genius brings along some contradictory, maybe even aberrant obligations. The one I find most striking is modesty. You may be smarter than 99.99% of the population, but you still have to be modest about this great advantage you have over them. It's a two edged blade, really. On one hand, people can say that you're being a "smart ass", taking them for idiots by talking to them plainly and friendly. It's like they expect you to be so far above them that they can't really understand you. Which is where the second part comes in. If you do so, they'll have a reason to hate you. Stupidity works like that, I guess. Stupid people don't like smart people in general, and if they know you're smart, even more so, if you show you're smart, not a lot of people will like you.
So, I ask you...is it right for a person with a genius mind to have to stoop to a lower level of dialog just for the sake of being accepted between morons? But then again, if he stands tall and far above the rest...who's going to be up there with him? A genius' fate...is to walk among the retards.
Which brings us back to the problem of how you tell a person is a genius...he might just be playing dumb. But I guess a genius would get used to that in his life...his knowledge of his own mental prowess probably keeps him warm and calm when dealing with life as it is.
